Two weeks into a leave of absence, concertmaster Charles Wetherbee has decided to resign from the Columbus Symphony. Wetherbee, 44, said he wouldn't return to his position, thus wrapping up a 16-year run with the orchestra. "Though this was a difficult decision, I know that it is the correct time for me to take a different musical and professional path," he said in a written statement. In December, Wetherbee spoke of pay cuts for musicians and the orchestra's precarious financial position as factors in his efforts to look beyond the Columbus Symphony.
