Join Carpe Diem String Quartet in wishing a Happy 20th Birthday to our friends at Columbus Dance Theatre!

CDT@20, presented by PNC Arts Alive and Columbus Dance Theatre, is the culminating retrospective concert of our 20 years of artmaking at CDT. This celebration of the wide range of repertoire created by Columbus Dance Theatre over the past twenty years will include Musical guests: The Carpe Diem String Quartet, Andrew Lipke, Jason Hiester, Lori Kay Harvey, and RJD2 for four separate performances held over one festival style weekend. Repertoire for these concerts was chosen on-line by the community and shared through free pop-up performances leading up to this one-of-a-kind celebration of dance in Columbus. CDT will partner with the Refugee Task Force of First Community Church for the Friday night performance and with the Mid-Ohio Food Bank for Saturday night's presentation of O. Twist.

Carpe Diem will present native American musician and storyteller Leon Littlebird in "Anthem of the Ancestors," a multi-movement work that will tell a story about the first people’s history as seen through the lens of Mr. Littlebird. Working with the haunting, evocative sound of the native flute, combined with percussion and string quartet, the work will be partially staged and include multi-media elements.

The Conference Concert Series features the Conference artist-faculty and Composers-in-Residence and is noted for the quality and diversity of its programming. The series has twice received Adventurous Programming Awards from the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP).

Concerts are given on Wednesday and Saturday evenings each week. Admission is free.

All concerts are at 8:00 PM in Greenwall Auditorium at Bennington College, Bennington, VT, and are free and open to the public.

Based on the diary of Anne Frank CDT Artistic Director will choreography the world premiere of anne: diary in dance as the culmination of CDT’s 17th Anniversary Season, Passion and Compassion. “I will explore the story and life of Anne Frank, and the incredible strength of the human spirit in the face destruction and evil,”says Veach. Veach will collaborate with Carpe Diem String Quartet member Charles Wetherbee who will compose an original score for the production.
