NPR named Iranian American composer Reza Vali’s concerto for ney (Persian flute) one of the top ten classical recordings of 2013. Hear the adventuresome Carpe Diem Quartet — which the Washington Post called “extraordinary” — perform Vali’s Calligraphy No. 12, for santur and strings, along with his latest set of folk songs.
